Reckless Abandon with E.E

(photo from tumblr)
Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,
~ Philippians 3:8~

As for her, she doesn’t want to content herself just knowing things about God and relying on secondhand information about His Person. She is resolved to be among those who know Him, personally and intimately. And He is letting her. He has given her firsthand access to Him. She does this not to repay Him for everything He’s done nor to gain favor in His sight. It isn’t because this is what a Christian does. Rather, because this is what a new creature in Christ is. Every fiber of her being is now dependent upon the union of her soul with Christ.

“If my life is surrendered to God, all is well. Let me not grab it back, as though it were in peril in His hand but would be safer in mine!”
Elisabeth Elliot

By trying to grab fulfillment everywhere, we find it nowhere.”
Elisabeth Elliot, Passion and Purity

“Until the will and the affections are brought under the authority of Christ, we have not begun to understand, let alone to accept, His lordship.”
Elisabeth Elliot

“I have one desire now - to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord, putting all my energy and strength into it.”

Einstein and Bereans

I'd say that these words
illustrate well the lives of 'Bereans'
(those who seek God constantly)
starting from the ancient times to date.

Awakening

(photo from tumblr/ added words mine)

Things on earth are fleeting.
It is foolishness putting a reign on them
for God gives and takes.
It is when you realize that He created you for eternity that you loosen your grip over temporary matters.

Yea, in the way of thy judgments,
O LORD, have we waited for thee;
the desire of our soul is to thy name,
and to the remembrance of thee.
Isaiah 26:8

Father's Day

(photo from tumblr)
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Galatians 4:6

Like a weaned child, pick me up
Carry me in your arms,
Press me on your bosom.
Abba, Father, I call on Your Name
Thank You for making me Your child
Thank You for being my Father..
I Love You..

The Lover and the Beloved IX

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee:
and let such as love thy salvation say continually,
Let God be magnified.

~ Psalm 70:4 ~

My Prince,

I dislike pain.
Yet, Your very Love won't shield me from it.
You use pain to show me what real love is like.
Its sweetness doesn't come from blissful times,
but springs forth from the contentment
of being with You in the midst of suffering.

The Wisdom of Sheer Ignorance

For I determined not to know any thing among you,
save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
1 Corinthians 2:2

(photo from tumblr)
Let us to-day be content to remain
ignorant of many things while
we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness :
to-morrow, if not to-day, knowledge
and all other good things shall be added unto
us (St. Matt. 6.33 ;1 Tim. 4. 7, 8 ; 1 Cor.13. 12).
Let us not exercise ourselves in matters
beyond our present powers of estimate,
lest amid the shallows (not the depths) of science we make
shipwreck of our faith.
To-day is the day of small things (see Zech. 4. 10) :
let us to-day be content with the small things of to-day,
knowing assuredly that all they who are Christ's are made
one with Him Who is the heir of all things
(St. John 17. 21—23 ; Heb.1. 2).
Thus shall our path be as the shining light,
that shineth more and more unto the perfect day (Prov. 4. 18),
while we go from strength to strength until
every one of us appear before God in Zion(Ps. 84. 7).

Come, Desire of All Nations

And I will shake all nations,
and the desire of all nations shall come:
and I will fill this house with glory,
saith the LORD of hosts.
 Haggai 2:7

Sometimes, we're not eternally conscious enough...

 .
 .
  Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times;
and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming;
but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.

Jeremiah 8:7

For The Love of Vintage

I have a fetish for vintage things
particularly related to my Cordilleran roots. I admit that I'm a bit lazy to make a separate blog for these. Hence, I'm adding them here along with my musings of God.This collection will cover my hometown's old  photos, apparels, and yes, stories from the past.

Let me begin with just two photos. More will come. {^u^}

Session Road is the commercial center of Baguio City and is one of the most popular destinations for shopping, dining, and banking.Session Road is so named because it was the site of the Philippine Commission's first session.

Designed by and named after premier American architect and urban planner, Daniel Hudson Burnham, who also designed the original plan for Baguio City. Burnham Park remains, to this day, one of the Philippines' most well known and best-loved parks.

No Secondhand Experience

(photo from tumblr)

There is a way that God designed us to encounter Him: firsthand. God has always preferred and invited firsthand communication. He desires to show Himself to us, speak to us, draw us to Himself. It is we humans, the objects of His affection, who repeatedly declined.
(Glenn Packiam, Secondhand Jesus)

This I Covet ...

a colloquy with Jesus on...
Psalm 37:4
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

(photo from tumblr)
I can't say that I fully comprehend what I'm asking, but please give me Your heart.
The heart brimming with an unquenchable passion for God.
The heart so pure that it doesn't get entangled with pride and self-glorification.
The heart with a singular delight of seeing pleasure in the face of the Holy One.

Give me..
the heart
whose longing
 is for God
to satisfy
the desires
He has placed on it.
